
Lecturer of Economic History at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of the Balearic Islands. Ph.D. cum laude in History from the University of the Balearic Islands. Former associate lecturer at the Departments of History, Economics and Business, and Applied Economics from 1993-2011.
Teaching experience in the subjects of World Economic History, Economic History of Spain, and History of the Pre-Industrial and Industrial Development.
Specialist in the study of the evolution of the living standard, the formation of labor markets in historical perspective, and the evolution of the Balearic economy in the 19th and the 20th centuries. Also expertise in the application of industrial technology and the history of the railways. Currently working on the development of agribusiness and the history of the tourism, and its impact on the transformation of the Mediterranean economies in the 20th century.
Research presentations at seminars in the Universities of Rome and Florence (Italy), Tula (Russia), Paderborn (Germany), Universitat Autònoma (Barcelona), and Tetouan (Morocco). Visiting researcher at the London School of Economics for 3 months. Member of 4 competitive projects sponsored by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), and member of the scientific committee in the last six national congress meetings in railway history.
Publications in various scientific journals: Historia Industrial, Historia Agraria, Revista de Historia de la Economía y la Empresa, Estudis d’Història Econòmica, Randa, and Transportes, Servicios y Telecomunicaciones. Author of the book Treball intensiu, treballadors polivalents (treball, salaris i cost de la vida, Mallorca, 1860-1936) on the living standard in Majorca, and coauthor in other three books.
