
Andreu Seguí Beltrán is Assistant Professor of Economic History at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of the Balearic Islands. He holds a Ph.D. in History from the Pompeu Fabra University.
Research on Early Modern and Modern Maritime History of the Balearic Islands, with special interest in maritime shipping, trade, and corsair activity. Expertise in other areas such as slavery, gender, technological, familiar, and labour studies. Currently working on wealth and income inequality in the Balearic Islands during the pre-industrial period.
Scientific papers published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports, such as Revista de Historia Económica and Business History, and others indexed in Scimago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) – Scopus, such as Investigaciones de Historia Económica. Books and chapters published in publishers indexed in the Scholarly Publishers Indicators, such as Bellaterra, Icària, Sindéresis and Institución Fernándo el Católico. He has presented his research in thirty congresses and seminars. Member of the scientific committee of the Alboran collection at the publisher Bellaterra.
The Maritime Museum of Barcelona awarded him the Ricart i Giralt prize for the best project of Maritime History (2019) and the Spanish Economic History Association the Ramon Carande Prize for the best paper project presented by a young researcher (2022).
Teaching experience in the subjects of Economic History, Business Economic History and The Progress of Spain in the International Order. Supervision of Final Degree Projects in the studies of Economics, Tourism and Hotel Management.
Visiting researcher at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (Paris, France), Université Paris 1 Panthéon – Sorbonne (Paris, France), University of Salamanca (Salamanca, Spain), and Fondazione Istituto Internazionale di Storia Economica “F. Datini” (Prato, Italy).
