José A. Pérez-Montiel

Assistant Professor of Economic History and Economics at the Department of Applied Economics of the University of the Balearic Islands. Research Fellow at the Angelo King Institute for Economic and Business Studies, and the Pompeu Fabra University. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Balearic Islands with a cum laude qualification and the international mention.

Research focused on the Historical Political Economy of growth, with special interest in the Classical-Keynesian tradition. Expertise in other areas on Applied Economic Analysis, Regional Economics, History of Economic Thought, and Ecological Economics. Currently working on different projects with researchers from the University of the Balearic Islands, the University of Valladolid, the University of Leeds, the University of Siena, the University of California-Santa Barbara, and the Asian Development Bank.

11 scientific papers in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), and 2 in journals indexed in Scimago Journal & Country Rank (SJR) – Scopus, such as Review of Keynesian Economics, Journal of Post Keynesian Economics, Applied Economic Analysis, Metroeconomica, Review of Political Economy, Annals of Regional Science, Journal of World Economy, and Industrial History Review.

Teaching experience in the subjects of Economic History, The Progress of Spain in the International Order, Economics and Enterprise, Spain and the World Economy, Economic Context and International Conditioning, and Environmental Economics in Tourist Areas.

Visiting researcher at the University of Siena (Siena, Italy), the Centre for Sociological Research (Madrid, Spain) and the University of Havana (Havana, Cuba).
